The news: EU regulators are preparing to issue charges against Google parent Alphabet by the end of October over the way the company displays search results for rival businesses.

The charges claim that Google is violating the Digital Markets Act (DMA), adding the company to the list of tech giants including Apple and Meta recently targeted for breaches.
A ruling would likely not come until spring 2025, but Google could face a steep fine of as much as 10% of its global annual revenues if it doesn’t fall in line with the DMA’s rules.
