The news: Snap has started testing Sponsored Snaps, a new ad placement that brings full-screen vertical video ads directly into a Snapchat user’s chat inbox.

Users won’t receive a push notification when an advertiser sends a Sponsored Snap, and they must opt in to viewing the ad by opening the message. Users who opt in can engage with the advertiser via messaging or by clicking on the call-to-action button.
Sponsored Snaps that are left unviewed will be removed from the inbox, though Snap did not provide a timeframe for that process.
